A Poem: For What Purpose

For What Purpose

by Julianne Newton

For what purpose lieth I down for another-

-to question conviction of soul

A raised hand:  a fallen confidence-

-truth without reason

Dreams by moonlight-

-shattered by the sun.

I’ve questions of self-

-doubt – shame

A complete breakdown of inner trust-

-obstacles of honesty.

Eyes full of clouds-

-visions of hope

Waves of false emotions cluttered by lies-

-fantasies

A restless soul-

-slowly dying
