I’m absolutely sure that I’m not the only one who has ever been caught off guard when a kid has a last minuet birthday invitation and we have no gift and no time. Cash to the rescue..but with little ones it seems to fall a bit flat. Cash is the go-to gift for kids over 12, but the younger ones like to rip open a package. If you follow me you know that I have 4 kids and that can mean a lot of gifts throughout the school year. These kids just have too many friends. It gets expensive! We kept gifts under $10 for a while but it slowly inches up and we’ve settled on $20. That seems to be the norm in our area.

My kids and I have compiled a list of gifts that we keep in our hall closet that they can choose a best fit for a last minute party and never go empty handed. The key is to have an assortment for girls and boys and a range of different interests. We try to keep it general and if a friend has a strong interest in a particular theme or gift we’ll just search for that that separatly. The closet works perfect for those friend parties when a bunch of kids are invited and they are friends..but not really “friends” if you know what I mean. Our list covers a range of 7-11 yo since we do tend to keep to cash for older kids.

My daughter has one of these and it’s awesome. Hours and hours of play. She uses it for notes sometimes now as well. Better than any whiteboard if you want to hang it on the bedroom door or just to sit in bed and draw for hours.

I like this one a lot because it’s also girls and boys and it gets them outside. My sons had this. FUN for Parents as well.
